Bird Bed & Breakfasts
We have coined this term for a design scheme which prioritizes bird forage and housing. Not just feeders and boxes, but a whole habitat designed around the needs of your favorite species. Whether you already have birds you'd like to help support, or are looking to have more birds visiting your garden, this is a great option for you.
Native Plant Communities for Pollinators
In a time of climate change and habitat loss, ecological responsibility and beauty can, and should, coexist.
We design layered native plant communities that support bees, butterflies, and other essential pollinators. This might look like a native wildflower meadow, a gravel garden, or a woodland sedge matrix. These gardens are dynamic, textural, and seasonally rich, offering ecological function alongside sophisticated design.
Placemaking
The genius loci, the genii or spirit of the place, the sense that this place is special, true to itself, and distinct from commonplace time. Through good placemaking, gardens transport you not to another place but right into this moment. Our designs seek to understand and appease the genius loci. Placemaking in your garden might look like using locally native plants to support local natural cycles, architecturally sympathetic designs such as leaning towards the English Arts and Crafts garden style around a Victorian home, or even cosmologically-oriented, creating garden paths aligned with cardinal directions or solstices.
Placemaking could look like building the stone patio surrounded by nature your children remember eating outdoor meals together on twenty years from now. The moment is fleeting but the impression sticks with you. All in pursuit of the genius loci.
Lawn Removal & Alternatives
Traditional lawns are often oversized and resource-intensive.
We specialize in removing unnecessary turf and replacing it with native ground-covers and low-maintenance lawn alternatives that are environmentally responsible and visually compelling. The result is a landscape that feels intentional and alive.
Rain Gardens & Erosion Control
Water management can be a design feature. Our rain gardens and erosion control solutions use native plants and land-shaping to manage runoff, stabilize soil, and create thriving micro-habitats. These systems are built for performance and designed for beauty.
Seasonal Garden Care
Exceptional gardens require thoughtful stewardship.
We provide tailored maintenance that enhances your garden and respects the ecological intent of the landscape. We support plant health, manage succession, and preserve design integrity throughout the seasons. Outside the garden gate, we also manage the health of your more natural spaces, keeping invasive species at bay and supporting the growth of helpful volunteer plants.
Garden Management Plans
For both new and established landscapes, we develop comprehensive garden management plans.
These detailed documents include plant inventories, care schedules, and horticultural guidance specific to your property, ensuring your garden matures with clarity and purpose.
Hardscape & Infrastructure
A garden integrates planting with structure.
We design and install patios, pathways, and garden infrastructure that complement and elevate the surrounding plant communities, creating cohesive and enduring outdoor environments.
